Party #2 at My Gym...Happy Birthday Owen!

After a very short nap, we were off to our second birthday party of the day. Brayden's friend Owen is turning two and his birthday party was at My Gym, which is a local gym and play place for kids. Brayden is taking a class at My Gym this summer and he just loves this place so he was excited for Owen's party. He had a great time playing and best of all, the teachers brought out Brayden's favorite special activity...the pink beach balls. They have these giant hooks in the ceiling and they hook different things in them, like swings and Brayden's favorite pink beach balls. Brayden loves pulling the balls down, which are attached to elastic, and letting them go while screaming boom. It is hilarious and Brayden walks around and informs everybody in his general area that "I love these balls." It is hilarious because he is totally on this kick that he "loves" everything. After he hears a song on the ipod that he likes, he says "I love that song"...too cute.
Happy birthday Owen. We hope that you had just as much fun as Brayden at your birthday party. We hope you enjoy your new Thomas the train set...even though it is not Percy!

Party #1 at the zoo... Happy Birthday Brynn!

We started off our day of birthday's at Brynn's celebration at a small local zoo. Brayden really loves this zoo and it is the perfect size for toddlers, the whole zoo can be done in about an hour and there is lots of shade (good for babies and hot adults!) The highlight of the day was definitely the duck pond and the pony rides. As I have mentioned before Brayden absolutely loves pony rides and the best part of today's pony rides were that they were free! Brayden rode the pony named Chocolate and he had great time...is he a future equestrian? I think he may be too tall for that sport. Here are some pics I took at the zoo of the two kiddos and the husband. I don't think I got any of the birthday girl, but we hope you had a fabulous birthday Brynn and that you enjoy learning to be a princess or should I say more of a princess than you already are!

Ouch! Chuck E. Cheese and the hole in my wallet

Today my mom and I took the kiddos to Chuck E. Cheese. Brayden loves Chuck E. Cheese but his mommy does not love the cost of a day at Chuck E. Cheese. We bought 10 dollars worth of tokens and I am okay with that but the 22 dollars for a small pizza (and when I say small, I mean like personal pan size!), 3 drinks and a salad. I swear for that price they must be using the freshest, organic ingredients they can find...Yeah right! But it was worth the steep price because Brayden had a great time.
He loved the skeet ball. Mommy and Brayden got enough tickets to get a few pieces of crap...I mean really cool toys. Brayden got a mini beach ball with a pirate on it and he was happy as a clam. He loves pirates right now. The girl at the prize table gave us two pirate beach balls by accident and I know a good person would have given the second beach ball back but I just paid 32 dollars...Chuck E. Cheese owes me that pirate beach ball and even though it may have been 50 cents, I feel like I one upped Chuck E. Cheese so take that Chuck E. Cheese. My kid got two pirate beach balls for the price of one and next time we come you will still take all my money but I will still have that extra beach ball!

Bat in her bra???

Nelly Belly...this story is for you. I can only imagine how loud you would be screaming if this happened to you. Although this woman does sound as if she is slightly more endowed than the average woman, considering she thought is was her phone ringing in her bra (Why she would have her phone in her bra is beyond me!), so I really doubt a bat would ever be able to nest in your bra without you knowing or noticing...Just trying to make you feel better since I know you will now check your bra for bats every morning!

Teenager finds bat asleep in bra

A teenager who thought movement in her underwear was caused by her vibrating mobile phone found a bat curled up asleep in her bra.

Abbie Hawkins, 19, of Norwich, had been wearing the bra for five hours when she plucked up the courage to investigate.

When she did, she found a baby bat in padding in her 34FF bra. The hotel receptionist said she was shocked but felt bad for removing the "cuddly" bat. "It looked cosy and comfortable and I was sorry for disturbing it," she said.

She was sitting at her desk at work when she decided to investigate the strange movements in her underwear.

"I put my hand down my bra and pulled out a cuddly little bat.

"That shocked me very much at the time, but it scuttled off under the desk into the dark. I was shaking from head to toe.

"It looked quite cosy and comfortable in there so it was quite rude of me to take it out.

"When I realised it was a bat the first thing that occurred to me was how did it get in there.

"I felt quite sorry for it. Perhaps I should have left it there and given it a good home.

"I did not notice anything as I put my bra on. The night before I had had one or two drinks and I was getting ready quickly.

"The bra was in my drawer but it had been on the washing line the day before.

"When I was driving to work, I felt a slight vibration but I thought it was just my mobile phone in my jacket pocket."

The bat was captured by one of her colleagues and released.

The original story can be found here.

Yum-o

Cami has started on solid foods and while she isn't enjoying them yet, she isn't crying anymore so that is an improvement. Our doctor gave us the go ahead to start cereal at her 4 month appointment in the hopes that it would help her with her reflux.

So we went out bought Cami some new bowls, spoons and bibs (since my messy, messy man pretty much ruined every bib we had for him.) Oh yeah, we bought the rice cereal too. We mixed up some rice cereal and fed her one bite and she just lost it. I mean, I have never seen her cry so hard. You would have thought we fed her rat poison. So needless to say, we decided that maybe she wasn't ready for solids and waited about two weeks to try again.

She has done really well this week with the rice cereal. Brayden refused to eat it. He hated it so he was an oatmeal boy. We will try oatmeal and barley cereal over the next weeks and then on to veggies. Our doctor wants us to do veggies before fruit, which we did with Brayden but obviously it didn't help him develop a love (or even any toleration at all) since he a veggie has touched his mouth since he was an infant and we were feeding him baby food. Here's to hoping that Cami loves all things veggie!

What is it with White Shirts???

Why, oh why do I continue to buy the world's messiest boy white t-shirts? I think Brayden has this shirt on for only about an hour or two before he manage to get his lunch all over it. Those are jelly spots that you see. When I was making his peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I decided to put on as little jelly as possible. Yet, he still managed to get the little jelly that was on his sandwich on his hands, which he promptly wiped on his shirt. Thank god for Oxyclean stain stick. Maybe the shirt won't be completely ruined if I can remember to wash it tonight. Any advice on getting stains out would be very helpful for this mommy of a messy, messy toddler!

Cami's first real laugh

I was finally able to catch Cami laughing at daddy, the only person she will laugh at. No laugh for mommy, you know the one who takes care of her every want and need. Not that I am bitter. She is too darn cute to be bitter at. I tried to catch it with the video part of our camera so turn the volume on the computer way up and squint (the lighting was apparently very bad) and you can hear the best sound on the entire world!

Working on the video....

Update: Can't get the video to work. I will work more on this...maybe I will have it up in a day or two.

Brayden's First Movie Experience

My mom came over to babysit Cami today so that Brayden and Mommy could spend some time together. On Tuesday's and Wednesday's in the summer, the movie theater shows two movies for kids and the best part is that it is free! So I decided that today, I would take Brayden to see his first movie in the theater. We went to see Clifford's Great Big Adventure. I was nervous because I didn't know how Brayden would do. He was excited since I told him that we were going to watch Clifford on a really big t.v.

We walked into the theater and it was packed. I couldn't find two seats together so I jumped on an aisle seat and put Brayden in my lap. I figured he would've ended up sitting there any way so it was not big deal. It was also really nice to cuddle with him through the whole movie...that's right, we made it through the whole thing! He seemed to enjoy it but was very tired and kind of warm. We got home and he has a fever of 103.7! I shot some Tylenol in him but it only brought the fever down a degree so I gave him some Motrin too, under the guidance of our doctor. I am not trying to drug up my kid that much.

He is napping now and I am praying that this is not an ear infection. He has had two very, very bad infections in his ears since December. They give him really high fevers and they don't respond to antibiotics so he just got tubes in April. I hope the tubes are working and this is just some bug that he hopefully won't pass to his sister. I hate when the kiddos are sick. It is so heartbreaking to see my normally happy guy, laying on the couch barely able to keep his head up. I hope this blows over quickly and we can get back to enjoying our summer and maybe even a movie or two.

Men and Laundry...the two don't mix!

I am done folding and putting away the laundry. YAY! I really had been ignoring it for quite some time as evidenced by the amount that I just folded.
As you can see, Ben and I are not good at laundry. He loves to put the clothes in the washer and dryer and he loves to pull them out of the dryer and throw them on the floor but he does not love to put them away...so I do it. Not a problem. He does so much around the house that I can fold the laundry every week (sometimes two when I am extra busy...I mean lazy.) But this is what drives me up the wall, I mean it really makes me lose it and I get the rage (Maggie and Nell know that the rage can be a scary thing!) but I have no one to rage to because it's nap time and I am alone. This is why I love this blog...I will unleash the rage now and on a side note, Ben is actually the world's best husband with just a couple of shortcomings, one of which will be described now.

Ben's shirts are always inside out and it makes me loony to turn them right side in and then fold them. And he wears like a gajillion (thrown in for my book club ladies) t-shirts a day because I just fold like 27 of them and they were all inside out. Now I am no right side in girl myself but I am the folder (most of the time) so I am allowed to leave my shirts inside out, I am only annoying myself but Ben is not. He is not allowed to annoy me with this anymore. I am taking a stand and I will not fold his shirts that are not right side in or is that right side out? I have been typing right side in but now that I think about it, wouldn't it be right side out? Hmmmm....

Anyways, now that the rage is gone and I have taken a stand against Ben's t-shirt problem, I feel better and I can go about my day. I will most likely continue to fold Ben's laundry, even if it inside out, because I truly love Ben and I know he works a crazy amount of hours a day and then comes home and takes the kiddos off my hands for the rest of the night. I just had to put this out there and now I am done. :)

Craptastic Morning!

What a way to start a Monday!

Cami woke up around 5:30 this morning for her bottle. Ben does the night time bottles...yes, he is a godsend and I am very, very thankful to him! He goes in and I continue to hear Cami crying so I get up because last time she continued to cry after he went in, she had pooped and peed every where. So I am mentally preparing myself for an awful mess...no mess, just mad that she is getting her diaper changed so back to bed for me.

I can't fall asleep though because I have three huge mosquito bites on my foot and they are itching soooo bad. I get up and go to the kids' bathroom to apply some cortisone cream. I do smell something awful but the diaper pail is in the hall so I attribute the smell to that. As I finish applying my cream, Ben has finished feeding Cami and goes into get the dog out of his crate and I hear "Oh my god, Cody" and then a bunch of curse words, which I won't repeat here. Cody has pooped on every single part of his crate and the rug around it. He is covered in poop too! Wonderful, it's 6:00 and we already have our first poop to deal with and it's bad...really bad! Cody gets let out and on his way out the door, he leaves poop footprints in the hall and on the stairs...fabulous!

Thank god for Ben because I have no stomach to clean up dog poop...kiddo poop, no problem...dog poop on the other hand, I can't handle. Ben cleans up all the poop prints and then attempts to clean up the crate. I try to go back to sleep but Cami is having a grand old time in her crib. She is screeching and screaming with joy as she plays with her hands and feet. She finally fall asleep at 6:20 and then I hear Brayden screaming "Daddy open door, Daddy open door." Why is he up? He usually sleep until at least 7. I think maybe he will go back to sleep...definitely not in the cards today. I finally grab him around 6:40 and he comes into bed with me to watch Sesame Street. When Brayden comes into our bed, he does not snuggle or even lie down. He is up and loud, which means no more sleep for mommy.

So here I sit, counting down the minutes to nap time. Cami is already asleep and Brayden is finishing up watching Wonder Pets and then he is off to bed. I hope to catch a nap but I have to do the dishes and then fold about 100 loads of laundry. You are probably saying "forget the laundry," but I have ignored for a week (maybe even two) and it's getting to the point where there is no room left on the floor to even pile anymore clean clothes so I must, must fold it. So my morning started at 5:30...and needless to say, I AM TIRED!

Fancy Schmancy Stuff

Recently, the owner of Fancy Schmancy Stuff gave me some infant bows and headbands. They are too cute and Cami looks really cute in them. The bows have velcro but we can't use them yet as Cami has hardly any hair and just not enough for the bow to stay in...maybe in a couple of months. Although, my parents have always said that I was bald until the age of two so it may be longer until Cami can wear bows, so the headbands will have to do for now.
Here is my little cutie in her Fancy Schmancy Stuff! Thanks Sarah. ;)

Tubes, Balls, and Slides...Oh my.

Today we wanted to do something fun for Brayden since yesterday we spent most of the day before nap running errands and getting ready to have guests.

Cami was going down for nap around 9ish so we decided that we would head out to a local moonbounce place around then so that she would sleep in the car and we would have two hours to play. We arrive at said moonbounce place and the place is dark with no cars out front...was it really closed on a Saturday? Yes, it was. So we stop by a park between rain storms so Brayden can play while we figure out what to do now.

Quick call to my mom and we have the number for another local moonbounce place...no answer on the telephone. They are closed too! The moonbounce gods must have gotten together and decided that Kelly, Ben and the kiddos were not to moonbounce today.

Another quick call to my mom and we have the number to a family fun center in the area...yes, they are open so we head off. We have now wasted an hour of good, awake Cami time but we drove all this way and to get Brayden out of the park (it had started to rain again), we promised him we would go to an indoor park.

Well, let me tell you, this place was awesome. It was a kid heaven. It was all sorts of tubes and slides. It was huge and the kids could climb, crawl and slide in this mile high maze. Ben and Brayden went in together and had a great time. Brayden was screaming with happiness.

We then saw a ball area so I took Brayden over. Apparently we hadn't paid for this area and we were kicked out. So I carry out a screaming, tantruming Brayden and we go and pay to play in the ball area, which was just like the other area but it had balls and all sorts of cool contraptions that shoot the balls all over the place.

We had a blast! It was tough to get Brayden to leave but Cami was seriously tired so we headed out to give Cami and nap in the car and grab some lunch. It was a great family day and I can't wait to bring Brayden back to kid heaven. He's napping now and I am sure he is dreaming of all the tubes, slides and balls.

Good Friends, Good Food

We had a great 4th of July celebration at our home. We invited over 3 other couples and their kids. Everyone brought something and Ben made his ribs, which are delicious by the way, and chicken. It was so much fun. There were three toddlers running around and three infants watching them. It was chaotic, loud but it was a great way to celebrate the 4th.

Brayden took a margarita shower, courtesy of mommy...no, I wasn't tipsy. Brayden tripped and as he reached out to grab something to stop his fall, he grabbed my margarita glass, which I was holding. It dumped all over his head and he was quite sticky. It didn't seep into his Brayden so the only damage was that he needed a bath so that he wouldn't smell of alcohol the next day. He kept saying that "mommy spilled her juice."

Cami with her new 4th of July headband...too cute!

Cami and her boyfriend, Adam

I didn't really get any other great pictures...mommy was too busy drinking (and spilling) margaritas. :)

The kids had a great time and so did the parents. A perfect way to spend a rained out 4th of July...good friends and good food.

See-Food

We were out running errands on Friday and stopped by Chic-fil-a for a bite to eat. Some of our friends from my playgroup happened to be there so it was like a little party. Milkshakes were buy one, get one free so of course, we stuffed our faces with chicken and then had some very tasty (as Brayden would say) milkshakes.

I know that, well I have heard, that Chic-fil-a has a pretty cool kids play room but we have never let Brayden play in anything like that. I have always looked at all the crazy kids running around and thought that Brayden was too young and would most likely get pushed around by the bigger kids (or sometimes by the smaller kids). I think it may be to our benefit that Brayden has no idea what is in the play room or that it even exists, seeing some of the tantrums that other parents have to deal with when they leave makes me happy to show up eat my chicken, drink my shake and get the heck out of there, most of the time tantrum free.

Here are some cute pics of the kiddos that one of the moms in my playgroup snapped yesterday:

My Handy Man

Thank god I married a handy man. Ben really can dive into almost any home improvement project and complete it without hurting himself or our house. He is a very handy person to have around. He has saved lots and lots of money over the years.

We are having guests over for the 4th of July tonight and I asked him this morning if he might be able to fix the umbrella for the deck furniture sometime today so after one short trip to the Home Depot, he is out in the rain fixing the umbrella. I think he kind of likes all his little fix-it projects.

So he is my handy man and I love him....and no, you can't have him. He's all mine. :)

Oh, the Candy Man Can...

So more adventures into this whole potty training extravaganza...

Brayden has been excited about his Diego potty seat, so much so that he made me take it outside and show it to the neighbors, who are 6 and 10 and whom Brayden happens to adore! So I am thinking that maybe he would want to sit on the Diego seat on the potty...no go. He is terrified, even with his clothes on. I went to the grocery store on Tuesday night and I saw a huge pack of Swedish fish. I thought to myself, I should buy these so that I can start to bribe Brayden with them and get him less scared of the potty. When I get home, Ben laughs at me and tells me this will never work. So now not only must I potty train my child but I must prove Ben wrong.

Yesterday Brayden was playing with his Diego potty seat and I put it on the potty and asked him if he wanted to sit on it, no clothing removal required. He say "Nope." I am not kidding, he actually says nope. Weird, I know. I then tell him that if he sits on the potty he will get candy and to that he says he will sit on the potty so I put him up there, clothes and all. I make a big deal about it...lots of cheering and dancing and he gets down and I give him a Swedish fish.

Well the boy has me figured out...we are watching Wonder Pets before nap and he jumps off the couch and runs out of the room screaming "sit on potty get candy." So we go through the whole production again and again and again...you get the picture. Finally, I tell him he has to take off his diaper and sit on the potty to get the candy. This did not go over well. In fact, it was a colossal failure...meltdown city! He is screaming, crying, flailing and now it's time for nap. I drag him upstairs and he is screaming about candy. He wakes of the other sleeping kiddo and I call Ben to commiserate and what does Ben say "told you so."

Mission failed...Ben is right once again.

Funny Face!

Every time I see this picture of Brayden, it makes me laugh out loud. Just thought I would share in case anyone out in the blogosphere needed a good laugh or cheering up. I have no idea why he made this face but I said say cheese and this is what Brayden did. Maybe this is the picture that will go in the yearbook when he graduates from high school and they ask the parents to send in a baby photo...I am sure at 18, he would just love that!

I am a winner...

I was so excited to find out that I won a prize from Classy Mommy. I had been regularly reading her blog and I saw that she was giving away a Spa Baby European Style Tub. I have seen this tub before and I desperately wanted to try it out, so I entered the giveaway and I WON!!! I never win anything so this has been a real thrill for me.

The tub came yesterday and I was so excited to try it out but I had to go grocery shopping last night so tonight was the night.
Cami really seemed to enjoy the tub. I think she was much warmer in this tub than her regular baby tub because the water came up to just about her shoulders. So from the baby perspective...good product. Ben is the kiddo bather in our household so he did the actual giving of the bath. He said it was very awkward. Cami doesn't sit by herself yet so Ben had to hold her and try to wash her at the same time. He also wasn't sure how to wash her hiney (Is that how you spell that word???). She was very slippery and kept sliding all over the place. So from a daddy perspective...good product but may take some getting used to. Brayden thinks that the tub is a rocket ship and likes to wear the tub on his head. He actually had a toddler-sized tantrum, which the parents of toddlers know is really loud and dramatic, since Cami was bathing in his rocket ship. He eventually got over it, as they all do and went to play cars in the family room. So from a toddler perspective...great rocket ship!

I want to give a big thanks to Colleen from Classy Mommy and Shital from Generation Orange for the opportunity to try out the tub. Cami just looks so cute all scrunched up in the tub. I have always thought of myself as a winner...now I actually am and Cami is too!

What a Beautiful Blog I Have

A huge, big thanks go out to Shauna for my new blog wall paper and header. It looks fantastic. I would definitely recommend her services to anyone looking to jazz up their blog. She was so fast and professional.

Our Little Picasso

Today we went to a really fun playgroup. The kids each brought their own t-shirts to paint. Each mommy wrote their kids name with paint on their t-shirt and hung them on a clothes line. When their names where dry, each kid got a water gun filled with paint and squirted it at their own t-shirt. It was a really neat idea.

Brayden had such a great time and keeps telling me that he wants to show his shirt to daddy. I couldn't find a white t-shirt in Brayden's size so maybe he will be able to wear his new creation in the next couple years...by then, it won't be cool...it'll be so two years ago...I can see it now.

Cami was, of course, the best little girl there ever was. She only managed the spit up on me and my black shorts...oh, and the floor but don't worry, I cleaned it up. I really need to put a change of clothes in the car for me. I carry around about a billion things in my diaper bag including changes of clothes for the kids...two for Cami since she is such a spitter and slobberer, but I have to wear around my gross pukey clothes. If I wasn't too lazy, I would get up and put an extra pair of shorts and shirt in my car...but I am so I guess all of you who see me on a weekly basis will have to put up with the dirtied clothes and faint smell of curdled milk.
